Nino V. Valpiani was born in Zurich, Switzerland. He was the resident photographer at the infamous GDR gem “Funkhaus Berlin” for nearly two years before he started focusing on artistic projects. A logical consequence of this decision was the co-foundation of the photo book publishing house “sèche editions” in 2021, which focuses on the photographic work of both different filmmakers, as well as artistic photographers.
Furthermore, since having been accepted to Berlin’s Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in 2021, he continuously strives to further his photographic skillset, especially focusing on portraiture and documentary photography. Finished the same year, his short documentary “The Art of Darkness” – the first film of a series about artists and their ordeals – reflects not only his further advancement as a director, but also his personal growth.
