Nino V. Valpiani was born in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1996. After jobs as a project manager and copywriter in advertising, he started working as a freelance photographer and director in 2017. He was the resident photographer at the infamous GDR gem “Funkhaus Berlin” for nearly two years before he started focusing on artistic projects. A logical consequence of this decision was the co-foundation of the photo book publishing house “sèche editions” in 2021, which focuses on the photographic work of both different filmmakers, as well as artistic photographers.
Furthermore, since having been accepted to Berlin’s Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in 2021, he continuously strives to further his photographic skillset, especially focusing on portraiture and documentary photography. Finished the same year, his short documentary “The Art of Darkness” – the first film of a series about artists and their ordeals – reflects not only his further advancement as a documentary director, but also his personal growth.
Nino V. Valpiani lives and works in Berlin.
